The Farm

It started with a few acres, a love of growing things, and a lot of ideas.

When we bought our home in East Hampton, Connecticut, we had a few acres and plenty of room to grow. The property wasn't perfect — there were overgrown areas, big open slopes, and plenty of work ahead of us. But some of the things others didn't love about it were exactly the things I did.

I looked at those big open slopes and saw gardens.

We started clearing, planting, and making room for pollinators — butterflies, dragonflies, bees, and all the little things that make a garden feel alive. And because I've always loved lavender, of course it found a place here too.

Turns out, the lavender loved it here just as much as I did.

What started with a few plants grew into more, then a little more. We kept planting, kept learning, and kept finding new things we wanted to grow. Somewhere along the way, it became Lavender Frog Farm & Garden.

And we're still growing.

What We're Growing

Lavender may be at the heart of the farm, but there’s always something else growing around here. Along with our lavender, we grow several varieties of mint and sage, as well as oregano, thyme and other herbs — and the list keeps growing right along with the farm.

We keep growing simple: sunshine, water, healthy soil and nothing else. No herbicides, pesticides, growth agents or unnecessary additives. Just good soil, healthy plants and time to grow.

More Plants. More Possibilities.

Our little farm can only grow so much, but my love of plants certainly doesn't stop there.

I wanted Lavender Frog Farm & Garden to be a place where you could find far more than what we're able to grow here ourselves. Through a close friend of more than 20 years, that idea led to a partnership with a neighboring, local Connecticut grower and opened the door to thousands of plants we could never grow on our few acres alone.

It means we get to stay little, while offering something much bigger.

Roots Run Deeper Here

Lavender Frog Farm & Garden has become part of our family in ways I never expected. My husband has been there for every crazy idea, every next project, and every “I want…” that usually means more work for him. Somehow, he always finds a way to turn my “I wants” into something real — and most of what this farm has become is because of him.

The farm has also found its way into our homeschooling. There’s always something to learn — growing and caring for plants, helping with the farm stand, and seeing firsthand what goes into running a small business. And anyone who knows my kid knows he loves the farm stand and the selling side of things. Some of the best lessons happen simply by being part of it.

We’ve also been incredibly lucky to have some amazing local farmers here in East Hampton who have shared their time, knowledge, and experience with us. They’ve answered questions and offered endless advice. There’s always something more to learn, and I couldn’t ask for better people to learn from. Collaborating with them is next on the list because, at the end of the day, helping each other is what it’s all about.

Why Lavender Frog?

The name Lavender Frog started long before there was ever a farm.

My best friend passed away when we were just 17. She loved frogs and all things purple, and both have always reminded me of her.

Years later, when we bought our home, frogs were everywhere. There’s an old cranberry bog across the street, so they’ve always just been part of life here. My love of lavender was already there — and before long, lavender was growing all around us too.

As the lavender began to thrive and the idea of the farm started to take shape, somehow those two things just belonged together.

Lavender Frog.

And It’s Just the Beginning.

Lavender Frog Farm & Garden is still growing and becoming a little more of what we imagine each year. We’re so glad you’re here to grow along with us.
